My Story

Welcome to Autonomy Counselling and Psychotherapy Services. I’m Grant Roberts, a dedicated therapist with a passion for helping individuals and couples navigate the complexities of life. My work is rooted in a deep commitment to mental and emotional well-being, and I’ve had the privilege of supporting clients through challenges like anxiety, depression, OCD, addiction, relationship issues, and more.

My Journey and Approach

My path into counselling and psychotherapy was driven by a desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. With a rich background in therapeutic practice, I’ve developed a holistic approach that blends evidence-based techniques with genuine empathy and understanding. Each client’s journey is unique, and I tailor my approach to meet your specific needs, ensuring that you receive the support and guidance that’s right for you.

Whether you’re seeking to heal from past trauma, improve your relationships, or manage personal challenges, I’m here to walk alongside you. We can meet in person at my practice in Liphook, Haslemere, Farnham, Godalming, or Petersfield, or connect online if that suits you better. My goal is to create a safe, non-judgmental space where you can explore your feelings, understand your experiences, and work towards a more balanced and fulfilling life.

A Bit About Me

Outside of my professional life, I’m a firm believer in the importance of self-care and maintaining a balanced lifestyle. I’m an avid mountain biker, often finding peace and exhilaration on the trails. Cooking is another passion of mine—I love experimenting in the kitchen and creating meals that bring joy to family and friends. As a member of my local hockey club, I enjoy both the physical challenge and the camaraderie of the sport, which keeps me grounded and connected to my community.

I’m also deeply committed to giving back. Since 2022, I’ve volunteered with The Fountain Centre, a cancer charity, where I help patients and their families cope with the devastating effects of the disease. This work is incredibly rewarding and has given me profound insights into the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity.

At home, I’m kept busy by my loyal companion, Rex, a spirited cocker spaniel who’s always up for an adventure. Whether we’re out for a long walk or relaxing at home, Rex reminds me of the simple joys in life and the importance of living in the moment.

Experience

Alongside my counselling and psychotherapy practice, I also run The Mind & Body Coach method, either face to face at my studio, or online, enabling me to help clients not only locally but nationally and internationally.

I have worked for the past two years voluntarily as a counsellor at The Fountain Centre at the Royal Surrey County Hospital, working with clients for short term psychotherapy, assisting them in the difficult circumstance that is living with cancer. Exploring fear, anxiety, grief, loss, depression and any and all emotions and thoughts brought into the room. It is an incredibly rewarding privilege to have the opportunity to help those who feel out of control and uncertain of the future.

I have previously worked as part of Petersfield Counselling Service helping clients deal with various mental distress using CBT, Expressive Arts and Talk therapy, encouraging clients to engage with their unconscious and any associated repressed memories that can be causing anxiety and pain.
