Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Here are some of the most common questions I receive about my counselling and psychotherapy services. If you don’t find the answer you’re looking for, feel free to contact me directly.

What issues can counselling and psychotherapy help with?

I offer support for a wide range of issues including anxiety, depression, OCD, addiction, trauma, relationship difficulties, and neurodiversity challenges such as ADHD and autism. My goal is to help you navigate these challenges and improve your overall well-being.

How do I know if I need counselling or psychotherapy?

If you're struggling with emotional, psychological, or behavioural issues that are affecting your daily life, relationships, or overall happiness, counselling or psychotherapy can help. It provides a safe space to explore your thoughts and feelings and develop coping strategies.

What can I expect in the first session?

The first session is typically an opportunity for us to get to know each other. I will ask about your current concerns, background, and what you hope to achieve through therapy. It’s also a chance for you to ask any questions and decide if you feel comfortable working with me.

How long does therapy last?

The length of therapy varies depending on individual needs. Some clients may only need a few sessions, while others may benefit from longer-term support. We will regularly review your progress to ensure that therapy continues to meet your needs.

Do you offer online therapy?

Yes, I offer online therapy sessions for clients who prefer the convenience or are unable to attend in person. Online sessions are conducted via secure video platforms to ensure your privacy and confidentiality.

What are your fees?

My fees are transparent and vary depending on the type of session. Individual therapy sessions are £65, couples therapy is £85, and specialised therapy sessions such as those for OCD or neurodiversity are £70. I also offer a limited number of reduced-fee slots for those in financial difficulty. For more details, please visit the Fees page.

How do I book a session?

Booking a session is easy. You can contact me via the website form, email, or phone to arrange a time that suits you. I offer flexible appointment times, including evenings and weekends.

Is what I say in therapy confidential?

Yes, confidentiality is a key aspect of the therapeutic relationship. Everything you share in sessions is kept private, with the exception of situations where there is a risk of harm to yourself or others, or where I am legally required to disclose information.

Can I cancel or reschedule a session?

Yes, you can cancel or reschedule a session if you provide at least 24 hours' notice. If you cancel with less than 24 hours' notice, a cancellation fee may apply.

How do I prepare for my first session?

There’s no need to prepare extensively for your first session. Simply come as you are, with an open mind. It can be helpful to think about what you want to achieve in therapy, but we’ll explore this together during our sessions.

Do you offer support for couples and relationships?

Yes, I offer couples therapy to help partners navigate challenges in their relationships, improve communication, and resolve conflicts. Whether you’re dealing with issues like infidelity, communication breakdowns, or other relationship struggles, I provide a supportive environment for both partners.
